It is useful for quickly accessing content within a Mac application, however, and would be faster than CCC, which would require you to boot from your destination CCC drive (previously copied).

Without a Mac, it is not much use beyond this and is software based. It checks the data as it goes, hence the name. Thanks for you knowledge and opinions.įrom memory, CCC does simply copies all the data as appears and is structured on the source drive.
TIME MACHINE VS CARBON COPY CLONER HOW TO
I could use any help and direction on how to properly recover what I need from CCC or opinions on using Time Machine exclusively over Carbon Copy Cloner or the reverse. If I cannot become more knowledgeable about CCC I am thinking about changing all my backup drives to Time Machine. I don't believe I really know how to properly use Carbon Copy Cloner because I don't know how to go into any of the three drives I have using CCC and recover what I need. I have also used the Time Machine backup and it has been successful. There I have been a few occasions over the past years when I needed to recover something from the backups. One is a back up of my MacBook, one a backup of my Music Library and one that backs up both. Then I have three different SSD that use Carbon Copy Cloner. One is a Time Machine Backup that covers both my MacBook and Music Library which is on an external drive. I have four separate external SSD that I use for backups. But, I am a little confused and could use some help, clarification when it comes to back ups. I think of myself as semi-literate when it comes to computers, networking and applications and such things.
